    Hitsuji

The Noge area has literally hundreds of establishments to choose from–something for pretty much everyone’s taste. Now entering its third month of business, Hitsuji is a great option for the young, hip crowd looking for something new.

hitsuji-3Those in search of lamb dishes will discover none on the menu as the name originates from owner Kawaguchi Masashi’s zodiac sign. What you will find is a specialty rotisserie Daisen Chicken from Tottori Prefecture. Coming in a half or full size (¥1380/¥2480), the juicy rosemary-roasted chicken is easily a meal on its own. The tasty Anchovy Cabbage (¥580) makes for a very nice appetizer for people who think they can handle more than the chicken. Pastas and other fusion dishes will also entice.

Declaring itself a “Wine & Craft Beer” place, the restaurant serves a standard lineup of five craft beers on draft (S ¥650/ M-pint glasses-¥950) as well as Premium Malts (¥550). For wine, you can select from about twelve different varieties (red, white, rosé, sparkling) available by the glass or bottle (¥550〜/¥2800〜). They also have a couple types of homemade sangria (glass ¥580) that are definitely worth a try.

Hitsuji is an ideal place to bring a date. Grabbing one of the six stools at the bar and chatting with the smiley Kawaguchi makes it an easy choice for anyone on a night out alone or stopping by after work, too. The interior is non-smoking, but there is a smoking table available streetside.
